Orohydrography Map of Iran on scale of 1:1000000 was compiled by M.H.Nabavi , Didehvar and Assadi In 1993 to study the status of the country's drainage basins. This map is part of the Treatise on the Geology of Iran that was administrated by the Geological Survey of Iran. Having prepared data model based on four paper map sheets, digital map of orohydyrography produced by the National Geoscience Database of Iran in 2003.The coordinates of this map is based on the National Cartographic Center's 1:1000000 maps.

Projection system: Lambert conformal conic Datum ellipsoid: WGS84 In this, map country's drainage basins are classified to basin and sub-basins. It is of great importance to note that basin boundary classification is based on elevation that has not been formerly presented. This will easily provide area segmentation. On the other hand the streams have also been classified based on their permanent or seasonal discharge. Relationship between the basin areas with streams is among the other information presented on this map. Mountains are separated based on geographical areas. Meanwhile various features such as lakes, swamps, sandy hills and desert are shown on the map. Since some of the latitude and longitude lines are not placed correctly in the paper map, producing digital map with precise coordinates was impossible however; it has been tried using maximum number of correct points to have best accordance with the base map.
